United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO)

The World Tourism Organsation is the United Nations agency responsible for the promotion of responsible, sustainable and universally accessible tourism.

Fiji has been a member under the Commission for East Asia and the Pacific since 1997.

Our Collaboration

Over the years, Fiji’s commitment and participation internationally has allowed for a greater vision for tourism, as well as, the formation of new and stronger alliances to broaden the reach of the Fijian tourism industry.

  • In 2018, Fiji successfully hosted the UNWTO 30th Joint Meeting of the Commission for East Asia and the Pacific (CAP) and the Commission for South Asia (CSA).
  • At the 31st CAP -SA, Fiji was elected a member of the Committee on Tourism and Competitiveness (CTC).
  • At the 33rd CAP meeting, Fiji has been successfully elected as the Vice Chair for the CAP, a step forward in advocating for the Pacific’s and Fiji’s voice in the international platform.
  •  Fiji successfully hosted the UNWTO Workshop on Sustainable Tourism Development in the Pacific Islands in a hybrid format in Suva on 31 March 2021.
