Tourism Awareness and Capacity Building
The Micro, Medium and Small Enterprises (MSME) sector support the Fijian Tourism Industry, both directly and indirectly through the provision of a wide range of products such as accommodation, catering, transportation, attractions and activities.
Over the years, the Ministry has partnered with a number of stakeholders such as the South Pacific Tourism Organisation, Learn Fast New Zealand and Fiji One TV in delivering the following:
- Power-hours Training for MSMEs which was conducted with tourism MSMEs as a capacity building project. The training provided participants with essential information and skills to improve, progress and expand their business, which in turn increases their contribution to the economy through its multiplier effect.
- A total of two (2) Power Hours Training have been effectively conducted thus far in Nadi and Suva for 52 operators on Business Planning and Disaster Preparedness for MSMEs.
- Fiji One Television Talk Business Show highlighted the Success Stories of Tourism MSMEs and provided a platform to encourage aspiring tourism operators to venture into Tourism MSME business.
A total of 11 Tourism MSME Success Stories from the Rewa, Naitasiri, Tailevu and Nadi tourism regions have been aired on Fiji One Television. Plans are underway to feature Success Stories from other tourism regions this year.
