TOURISM ADVISORY

30 March 2022: As a nation with over 90 percent adult population vaccinated with access to boosters, and low test positivity rates, Fiji is now taking the next step in its economic recovery.

FOR VISITORS

In accordance with the 2021-2022 Special Revised Budget, effective 7 April 2022, fully-vaccinated visitors with a negative COVID-19 test entering Fiji, will no longer be required to book a minimum 3-night stay at a Care Fiji Commitment (CFC) Certified hotel.

Instead, they only require a pre-paid Rapid Antigen Test (RAT), to be administered within 48 to 72 hours of arrival into Fiji, proof of vaccination and either a Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test taken no more than 2 calendar days prior to the scheduled day of departure OR RAT taken no more than 24 hours prior.

In terms of Insurance, visitors with existing insurance must present evidence of the cover not excluding COVID-19. All foreign passport holders (except valid permit holders who provide a supporting letter from sponsor/employer to meet all COVID related costs, including isolation if required) must have medical travel insurance, with international coverage that covers COVID-19 before travelling. Travellers may opt for FijiCare COVID-19 travel insurance.

With over 70 countries declared Travel Partners as of 18 March 2022 – Fiji has now also removed its Travel Partner classification – and is open to anyone who meets the entry requirements.

FOR HOTELS

In light of the above changes, the COVID-19 Risk Mitigation Taskforce (CRMT) hereby advises that while all hotels can receive COVID-19 test bookings, only outer islands and selected remote hotels can conduct in-country COVID-19 testing as follows:

  • Listing on Fiji Entry Test Portal:

All CFC hotels/resorts that have an arrangement with a service provider, or will be undertaking in-country testing by themselves (outer island and remote properties) must be registered with the CRMT.

We have two separate registration forms to be filled:

  1. Listing all CFC hotels and resorts that have an existing arrangement  with a service provider; and
  2. Outer island and remote CFC hotels that wish to undertake in-house testing themselves.

How to Register:

If you are an outer island or remote CFC hotel/resort with no arrangements with a service provider (lab/pharmacy), and intend to undertake in-house testing, please declare your interest here.

OR

If you are a CFC hotel/resort with existing arrangements with a lab/pharmacy, irrespective of where you are situated, please register here.

Once registered, visitors will be able to book either at a local lab or pharmacy, or directly with your hotel. This way, hotels may continue to facilitate bookings for capacity management with their respective service providers.

If you do not get listed, the travellers will be required to book their in-country test at a test provider located near to their hotel. This information can be made available upon confirmation of accommodation by the hotel to the visitor.

  • Conducting COVID-19 tests:

As per the 2021-2022 Revised Budget, only hotels in outer islands and those deemed ‘remote’ on mainland by the CRMT, meaning geographically isolated from nearby labs and pharmacies, can conduct COVID-19 tests provided they have Fiji Centre for Disease Control-trained Wellness Ambassadors with no arrangements with any lab or pharmacy.

In terms of isolation protocols for guests testing positive outside, we encourage hotels to extend the duty of care by activating their CFC isolation protocols, including transfers where needed.

While the minimum 3-night requirement at a CFC hotel has been removed, the CRMT strongly encourages the CFC to maintain COVID-safe protocols, and to give visitors the same assurance.

In order to ensure the Fiji Entry Test Portal is completed in advance of 7 April, the CRMT seeks the cooperation of all industry stakeholders in the registration process.
