Consumer Council of Fiji
The Consumer Council of Fiji (Council) is an independent statutory body established under the Consumer Council of Fiji Act -1976 (Cap 235). The Council, as a watchdog, protects the rights and interests of consumers by promoting a fair and just delivery of goods and services.
The core functions of the Council include consumer rights advocacy, mediation, policy recommendation, advisory and information. The dedicated complaints officers continuously strive to provide the best advice and guidance to Fijian consumers. As the nature of economic activity evolves, so does the role of the Council in ensuring the consumers are made well aware of their rights and responsibilities.
Despite the challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Council’s efforts did not dwindle in meeting its objective of providing consumer advisories through the national toll-free consumer helpline 155, Consumer Council of Fiji mobile app, social media such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, phone calls and emails.
