Navutu Special Economic Zone
As articulated in the 5-Year and 20-Year National Development Plan, the development of this special economic zone (SEZ) in Lautoka will play a fundamental role as part of economic recovery by liberating the Fijian economy by expanding our economic base and diversifying into other various sectors.
Located close to seaport and airport facilities, the Navutu Special Economic Zone will be a modern economic Zone that will have in place the required supporting infrastructure and utilities to facilitate commercial and industrial development.
This will enable the creation of new employment opportunities both in the construction phase and when the SEZ will be operational, creating new investment and foreign revenue. Once the SEZ is operational this will also ensure an increase in export earnings, contribute to technology and skills transfer and solidify Fiji’s position as a regional hub.
The establishment of the Zone is targeted at making Fiji a centre of excellence in socio-economic development through increased activity in the light/green manufacturing sector, ICT/BPO services sector, Warehousing and Retail followed by Green Energy Industries. It must be noted that SEZ has become a project of national interest as a recovery strategy post- COVID-19.
