The Chairperson and Board of Film Fiji;

Chief Executive Officer Film Fiji;

Government Officials;

Invited Guests;

Ladies and Gentlemen;

Bula vinaka and a very good afternoon to you all.

It is indeed a pleasure to be here today, to officially close the Film Fiji Stakeholders Seminar.

Ladies and Gentlemen

A lot has been deliberated on, in today’s discussions and I once again thank you all for being here. As I stated this morning, it’s not every day that we get all the stakeholders under one roof to thrash out issues that are dear to your hearts, in this case Fiji’s film industry.

Ladies and Gentlemen

You all have an important role to play and therefore, I urge you all to work together in moving this industry forward. In doing so, I encourage you as stakeholders to have more inter-agency interaction and consultations. Furthermore, to ensure that outcomes of your consultations are proactively and effectively implemented not only for the good of the industry, but for all Fijians.

Ladies and Gentlemen

We have all seen the benefits of the film industry to our economy and the nation as a whole. It has brought in foreign money, provided employment opportunities for our people, increased exposure to the international film market and contributed to the nations GDP. I am sure all of you will agree that this particular industry has a lot more to offer.

Of course, your roles and what they contribute to the Audio Visual Industry differ, but there are a lot of opportunities for synergy. I am fortunate that a number of key agencies are under the responsibility of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism such as Film Fiji, Tourism Fiji and Investment Fiji.

There are also synergies to be exploited with other stakeholders to ensure that everyone is on the same page when it comes to securing foreign production companies to film in Fiji. I understand that we had representatives from Immigration, iTLTB, FRCA as well as Fiji Airways. I have full faith in you all to strengthen your collaboration and move forward as one team – Team Fiji.

With those words, I now have the pleasure of declaring this seminar closed.
