Mr. Faizal Hussain and family,
Staff of Supercuts Barbershop,
Invited Guests,
Members of the Media,
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Bula Vinaka, and a very good afternoon to you all.
It gives me great pleasure to join you this afternoon to be part of a dedicated gentleman’s achievement – Mr. Faizal Hussain and his business venture “Supercuts Barbershop”.
I recall opening Faizal’s fifth shop four years ago at the FNPF Mall, along Greig Street in Suva. Thereon, Supercuts Barbershop has expanded to six outlets in Suva – and today we’re gathered to open the first outlet in the Western Division, here in my hometown, Lautoka.
The Lautoka Branch is special because it caters for children, something dear to Faizal –after an observation he made on hair grooming services for children in Lautoka.
Fittingly themed, the Barbershop features “car chairs” to create an ambience of fun and enlightenment for children as their receive hair grooming services. This is complemented with giveaways of free toys, a simple, but well-articulated concept.
Originally from Seaqaqa in Labasa, Faizal comes from a humble background, working in the cane fields – before moving to Suva, in search of better opportunities in life.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
What began as a short stint to learn the ropes of cutting hair for 9 months, turned into an eight-year career for an aspiring gentleman. Today, we are witnessing the returns of being focused, resilient, and enthusiastic.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
I must commend the team of Supercuts Barbershop for raising the bar in men’s hairdressing, under the good guidance of their owner, and his seventeen years of experience.
From Faizal’s success, we can learn a simple lesson – a lesson, that it is rewarding to be industrious, it is rewarding to be humble and most importantly, it is rewarding to be committed to achieving your dreams.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Today, I want to thank Faizal, for transitioning from a job seeker to a job creator – I congratulate you for creating full-time employment for thirty staff, and continuing to offer more opportunities to other young Fijians through upcoming outlets planned for Suva and Nadi.
In closing my congratulatory address, I wish Faizal and his team well, and look forward to seeing you reach greater heights as a community by getting vaccinated and doing justice to the Western division given that they were the hardest hit by this pandemic.
Vinaka Vakalevu.
