Metrology

Metrology has developed into one of the more distinguished sciences, where collaboration is very much needed between the public and private sectors, as it is almost impossible to describe anything without referring to weights and measures. It facilitates fair trade through the use of harmonized standards and metrology also supports regulation by providing policy advice, information, conformity assessment and verification using measurement references.

The Department of National and Trade Measurement and Standards (DNTMS) under the Ministry of Commerce, Trade, Tourism and Transport, strategic priority is to become a premier metrology and standards organization in the region. For DNTMS to accomplish that objective, many factors have to be in motion to provide the foundation to being the lead player in metrology in this region. Ultimately, in having a modernized and simplified legislative framework that breeds confidence for both the private and public sectors
